Would you want to go on a migration safari? The Great Wildebeest Migration may be witnessed on a migration safari. More than 2 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles roam the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of fresh pastures and secure calving grounds. This 8-day Serengeti Migration Safari by Maua Kwetu Adventures is a unique African vacation package that allows you to witness the Great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration.
The best time to view river crossings is in July and August, when the wildebeest migrate from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara, or in September and October, when they travel the other way. July marks the beginning of the Masai Mara River crossing as well as the Serengeti’s mating season. It’s that time of year when wildebeest herds start traveling quicker in search of water and greener pasture, crossing the Grumeti and Mara Rivers. If you’re lucky, you could encounter a crocodile.
Over their pattern of movement is highly weather dependent and dynamic, yet with advance planning and a little bit of luck you can witness this natural wonder of the world. The tour is available throughout the year, but opting for it in the right season will leave you awestruck. To provide you with an unforgettable experience, this safari can be done only as a private safari.
Whatever time you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Easy Travel driver-guide will be there to greet you with a warm smile. Relax in your comfortable vehicle as he transports you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi Town, Tanzania’s self-proclaimed “safari capital.” On your way to the hotel, you’ll get a taste of this large, bustling commercial city. Your pre-safari briefing may take place today, depending on your arrival time; if not, it will take place early tomorrow morning.
Your safari will begin at 8 a.m. with a pick-up from your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha. You will go to Tarangire National Park with everyone onboard. The 150-kilometer trip from Arusha will take roughly three hours. The national park is well-known and unique for its diversified scenery and nine distinct plant zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be greeted by the old and massive Baobab trees, which dwarf even the giraffe. The game drive lasts until late afternoon, with a brief halt for a picnic lunch. The 3,000 Square kilometers park gets its name from the Tarangire River that flows through it. The river draws a wide variety of species, including elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and zebras. If you’re lucky, you could see the tree-climbing python and the long-necked Gerek. Tarangire National Park contains the largest number of elephants, providing a rare opportunity to see interactions between elephant families. Don’t forget to photograph this stunning sight with your camera. Following the wildlife drive, you will return to your camp/lodge for a sumptuous supper. Get a good night’s sleep in preparation for tomorrow’s excursion.
The excitement for today will be great as you make your way into the world’s most famous animal park, The Serengeti. After a hearty breakfast, you will depart for the Serengeti National Park, where you will journey across the never-ending plain grasslands. In the indigenous African language, the Serengeti means “endless plains,” and witnessing the grassland stretch out as far as the eye can reach before blending with the sky at the horizon is an utterly amazing sight. With an overall land area of 14,763 Square kilometers, it puts our notion about the distance to shame. The Serengeti is also home to the magnificent “Big 5”. (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard). Along with the “Big 5”, one of Africa’s most gorgeous animals – the Impala – is a must-see. The Serengeti environment is home to Africa’s largest surviving concentration of plains animals. Of its tremendous number of lions and leopards, the iconic Serengeti National Park is the most famous safari destination. The Serengeti’s middle region, known as the Seronera sector, is one of the park’s greatest animal areas. It includes the Seronera River, which offers a key water source to the region and so attracts wildlife that is typical of the majority of Serengeti species. In Seronera, keep an eye out for the many lions’ prides that flourish in this area. You should also keep an eye out for the Serengeti’s “Kopjes,” which are gigantic granite rocks towering in a sea of grass. They provide abundant habitats for a wide range of plants and wildlife. A picnic lunch will be served during the day’s game drive. The adventurous day concludes with a hearty meal and a pleasant night’s sleep in your lodging.
After a healthy breakfast, you will depart at 8 a.m. to visit the Serengeti National Park’s middle region before moving to the park’s northern region. The enroute game drive to the Kogatende area would provide light activity from the local game. As you approach the northern Serengeti, you will note that the topography changes from flat grassland to more rugged and broken terrain. The northern area is home to a variety of resident wildlife, including zebras, topis, gazelles, buffaloes, leopards, and lions. A picnic lunch will be prepared throughout the day’s journey. Depending on your arrival time, you will be able to spend a few hours along the Mara River. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.
As usual, you will finish a good breakfast and begin your day by 8AM. The migration may be detected in this region from mid-June through September. The Mara River in this location gives the most stunning river crossing of the big migration from mid-June to September. The river’s fierce, deep, and substantially rain-fed current takes a heavy toll on migratory wildebeest. It’s an incredible sight to see the wildebeest storming through the torrential flood, with some drowning and others falling prey to prowling crocodiles. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to witness this natural wonder and observe nature at work. Tracing the great migration, you might even move towards the Lobo valley. The unspoiled Lobo valley is dotted with forests, grasslands, hills, and the world-famous granite Kopjes. It has an abundance of big cat wildlife, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs. During the dry season, the valley’s permanent water sources attract a large number of resident and migratory species, making for superb game viewing. During the full-day game drive, you will be able to stop for a picnic lunch. The day concludes with a delicious meal and a nice night’s sleep at your preferred lodging.
After a heavy breakfast, you will start your day at 8 a.m. and proceed south into the middle of Serengeti. The four-hour journey to the Serengeti’s heart will provide modest en-route wildlife. The road south from the Mara river valley passes through hill country, the Lobo region, forests, and finally back into Seronera territory. The Serengeti’s middle region, known as the Seronera sector, is one of the park’s greatest animal areas. It includes the Seronera River, which offers a key water source to the region and so attracts wildlife that is typical of the majority of Serengeti species. As you make your way into the Seronera region, you will begin to notice the hilly and broken terrain altering into plain grasslands. In Seronera one must really look out for the many lion pride that thrives in this region. The interactions and survival of these lion pride provide an excellent game-viewing experience all year round. A picnic lunch will be done during the day-long drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation. The next day you will head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Today, your safari will begin at 9 a.m., with a brief game drive in the Serengeti following a hearty breakfast. We will branch out and proceed towards the Ngorongoro crater rim after finishing a half-day wildlife drive and picnic lunch. The 75-kilometer trip to the Ngorongoro Crater rim will take around 2.5 hours, with some wildlife viewing along the way. The crater is an amazing natural feature and wilderness refuge in Africa. The adventurous day concludes with a hearty meal and a pleasant night’s sleep in your chosen lodging. Get some rest and refuel before descending into the enormous crater the next day.
You will have an early start on the last day of your safari. After a brief breakfast, you’ll begin an early descent into the crater bottom at roughly 6:30 a.m. The Ngorongoro Crater is the biggest dormant, undamaged, and unfilled volcanic caldera in the world. It has a vast floor of over 260 square kilometers and a depth of more than 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will provide you with plenty of animal encounters. It is very advised to have the camera ready. There are many African elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions. Following your picnic lunch by the stunning Hippo pool, you will begin a difficult ascent to the crater’s top exit. This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hr drive left to Arusha. You will be dropped off to your preferred location in Arusha or Moshi by 6 PM in the evening. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your team.
